Hayk Hambartsum was born in Armenia and grew up in Los Angeles from a young age. His passion for writing and images led him to filmmaking. Hayk holds a BFA from CalARTS and a Masters in Cinéma from the Panthéon-Sorbonne. His work increasingly revolves around archives and the dialectical tensions between the present and the past.He is currently doing a PhD at the Sorbonne on the oeuvre of Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucchi.
